Over the next 400 days, we plan to visit all these destinations: France, Spain, Canary Islands, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, New York, England, Wales, Scotland, Israel, Italy, Greece, Croatia, Turkey, Ireland, Peru, Ecuador/Galapagos Islands, California, Las Vegas, New Zealand, Australia, Fiji, South Pacific Islands, China, Singapore, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, India, South Africa, Netherlands, and Argentina. Then back home (which is TBD)…
Hi! We met yesterday afternoon/evening at Daniel and Benjamin’s M11 Restaurant in Monze (the name of the Restaurant is a little word game “M”+”11”, giving you “M”+”onze”- eleven in french. Thought I’d send you a couple of thoughts; Ireland (County Cork – right in the south-west) The Sea Urchin, Main Street, Goleen, (028) 35622. Lovely little village near the sea, great food!
The Ivory Tower, Princes Street, Cork. Great restaurant in Cork City.
Chez Youen,The Square,Baltimore,Co Cork,(0)28 20600 – Really fantastic seafood – superb little fishing village.
Make sure you go to lots of pubs for music, mussels and guinness in Co. Cork!
Wales; Hay on Wye – lovely little village in the Black Mountains, nice pubs and small restaurants – maybe visit the Festival?http://www.hayfestival.com/wales/index.aspx?skinid=2¤cysetting=GBP&localesetting=en-GB&resetfilters=true
The Skirrid Inn at Llanvihangle Crucorney (near Abergavenney), The Bull at Llantony Priory (in the mountains above Hay on Wye) is lovely. Abergavenney also has a Food Festival in the autumn I believe.
Finally, the Moon and Sixpence in Bath was great but I haven’t been there for years.
La Fargo Restaurant here, just after Lagrasse at Saint Pierre des Champs is also worth visiting.
Have a fantastic time, Oh! and make sure you eat fish and chips in one of the small Queensland (Australia) seafront shops! Kindest regards, Debs.
Debs – thank you so much for looking us up and posting your recommendations for Ireland and Wales. We will be in Wales in May and Ireland in August…so we’ll definitely look those places up. We really enjoyed Daniel and Benjamin’s M11 Restaurant…so please extend our gratitude to them for letting us dine and taste their wine (we thought their M11 Syrah was a very good bottle). Please feel free to follow us on our blog throughout our journey for the next 400 days…and please let us know any other recommendations you or your friends or family might have. – Giff and Brandey
